SEE-GRID-SCI USER FORUM 2009 - Call for abstracts now open

SEE-GRID-SCI USER FORUM 2009 Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey December 9-10, 2009

Call for Abstracts
The SEE-GRID-SCI User Forum 2009, to be held on December 9-10, 2009, in Istanbul, Turkey, will provide important opportunities for both business and academic sectors to network with the SEE-GRID-SCI communities, collaborating projects, developers, and decision makers to develop and consolidate plans for a reliable, seamless infrastructure in the South Eastern Europe (SEE) region. This international event will be dedicated to parallel and distributed computing with a main focus on Seismology, Meteorology, Environmental Protection and other research fields of Earth Science.
Contributions that focus on various aspects of Grid computing; investigate parallel and distributed techniques, algorithms, models and applications; present innovative software tools, environments and middleware; introduce novel methods for development, deployment, testing and evaluation are invited. Contributions investigating large-scale computing applications, present recent advances of scalability, fault-tolerance and security in Grid systems are also
welcome.

Topics of interest of SEE-GRID-SCI User Forum 2009 include but are not limited to the followings:

  • Featured topic: Earth Sciences and the Grid, with main focus on Grid applications related to Seismology, Meteorology and Environmental Protection
  • Advanced Grid applications and workflows
  • Grid architectures, systems and middleware
  • Grid resource management
  • Distributed information management
  • Distributed storage systems
  • Parallel and distributed programming languages and algorithms
  • Formal models for Grid computing
  • Development tools and environments
  • Grid application support tools and services

Contributors are invited to submit abstracts not exceeding 400 words in English.
SEE-GRID-SCI User Forum 2009 accepts submissions only in electronic form via its web site. Accepted abstracts, either for oral presentations or posters, should be converted into cameraready papers to be published in the proceedings book. Papers must be formatted according to the instructions that will be available on the web site.

Abstract submissions due...: September 30, 2009
Notification of acceptance..: October 15, 2009
Camera-ready papers .........: November 13, 2009
Registration deadline .........: November 20, 2009

Review Process
All abstracts will be reviewed by the User Forum reviewers. Organizers will assign at least two reviewers for each abstract. Authors are encouraged to utilize the reviews to improve their contributions for the camera-ready papers as well as presentations and posters. Abstracts submitted to be considered for oral presentation might be directed to poster session based on the reviews.
