Commission launches Digital Agenda, its new five year strategy for the ICT sector

Commissioner Nelly Kroes announced on 19 May 2010 the EU Commission's ICT strategy for 2010-2015, the so-called Digital Agenda.

The text of the Commission's main Communication is available here.

The Digital Agenda outlines seven priority areas for action: creating a digital Single Market, greater interoperability, boosting internet trust and security, much faster internet access, more investment in research and development, enhancing digital literacy skills and inclusion, and applying information and communications technologies to address challenges facing society like climate change and the ageing population. The Digital Agenda is the first of seven flagship initiatives under the Europe 2020 strategy for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. Further background information is available here.
