Looking to the future: sustainable e-Infrastructures

Hotel Radisson - Lyon - France

Context and Objectives

The 6th e-Infrastructure Concertation Meeting was organised by the Commission Services, with the support of the BELIEF-II project and with the active participation of all the projects in the e-Infrastructures area.

Organised in the framework of the ICT2008 Conference, this Concertation Meeting addressed Sustainability for e-Infrastructures. In this context, sustainability was seen from the following perspectives: policy, awareness-raising and technical perspectives.

Accordingly, the event did:

  • provide input to the European Commission's ongoing consultation exercise on the e-Infrastructures Work Programme 2010 and 2011
  • provide a session on communicating effectively project's goals and achievements
  • review the recent progress made by leading standardisation bodies and allow for the sharing of best-practices between e-Infrastructure projects

As usual, the Concertation Meeting sought to intensify and optimise human interaction and synergies among e-Infrastructure projects.

Attendees were invited to join the on-line eConcertation Forum and to contribute to the on-line discussion. This offered participants the opportunity to raise some of the most controversial issues related to the e-Infrastructures bringing them up to the attention of the Concertation Meeting audience and set the basis for discussions at the event.
