PROGRAMME POSITION STATEMENT

The 5th BELIEF Symposium was  held in conjunction with the 2009 CHPC National Meeting from 7 to 9 December at the Sandton International Convention Centre, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The rich three day programme offered valuable insights into the trends and visions of the evolving e-Infrastructures ecosystem in South Africa and Europe by providing a co-operation platform to promote knowledge sharing between business, research, government, academic communities.

The event opened with a Welcome Address given by South African dignitaries and a representation of the European Commission highlighting areas of mutual interest and collaboration followed by high level representatives from South African and European public and private organisations. Interesting breakout sessions focused on the most relevant and innovative e-Infrastructures applications in Europe and in South Africa.
