Organised by NORDUnet, SUNET and DANTE the GEANT Launch Event, "GEANT: Pioneering the Future Internet" will be held in Stockholm, in recognition of Sweden's EU Presidency.
Co-funded by the EU’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) and European NRENs, the project seeks to shape the Internet of the future through the pan-European GÉANT network and its portfolio of advanced services. GÉANT also tackles the digital divide of research and education networking across Europe and fosters technological research to assure Europe’s role at the forefront of networking and e-Science.
The packed programme features keynote speeches and invited talks on "Pioneering the Future Internet", and the event will bring together members of the global research networking community, politicians, decision-makers and representatives of the user community. Over 200 delegates are expected to be in attendance from over 30 countries.
Attendees of the conference are also invited to a Gala Dinner on 1 December to be held in the spectacular Vasa Museum, where attendees will dine in the shadow of the world's only surviving 17th-Century ship.
