EU-Med Event on e-Infrastructures in the Mediterranean

Health, education and the environment within the Mediterranean region are all benefitting from the growth of e-infrastructures, such as high-speed Internet connections and distributed (Grid) computing. e-Infrastructures for research and education allow members of the Mediterranean region’s scientific and academic communities to work together, and with their counterparts from the European Union (EU).

Following the success of the previous EU-Med Event, this conference will bring together invited policy makers and civil servants from relevant ministries and institutions, as well as executives from international organisations such as the European Commission, the Arab League, UN agencies, private companies and foundations.

The programme features VIP speakers, who will provide insights about the status and perspectives of e-infrastructures in the Mediterranean, and includes interactive sessions.
The event will also celebrate the launch of EUMEDCONNECT2, the research and education network for the Mediterranean.
Thus, the initiative aims to bring forward the discussion about sustainability of e-infrastructures in the region, tackling both the economic and policy aspects of the problem.

The EU-Med Event is jointly organised by three sponsoring projects that are working to facilitate the creation of e-infrastructures in the Mediterranean, namely EUMEDCONNECT2, LINKSCEEM, and the Development Support activity of GN2, under the patronage of the European Commission.
