Distance Learning as an e-Infrastructures application: innovation and future trends - 28th-29th January 2009 in New Delhi, India

Registration and call for contributions open for the joint BELIEF-II and 6CHOICE Indian Symposium

Organised by BELIEF-II and 6CHOICE consortia, the international symposium Distance Learning as an e-Infrastructures application: innovation and future trends will take place at the Habitat Centre in New Delhi India, on the 28th - 29th of January 2009.

Recently, the theme of Distance Learning has become one of the areas which has highly benefited from the advancement of e-Infrastructures and a key issue of priority for Indian  governmental initiatives, such as the “Indian Knowledge Network”. 

In this light, the Symposium will revolve around the questions on how existing EU – India e-Infrastructure links can evolve, in a way that will bring benefits to both regions. It will also propose innovative approaches for developing and exploiting EU-India e-Infrastructures links, bearing a strong focus on future developments in this strategic and long term application for the Indian society. The setting will encourage the exchange of information between European and Indian researchers and the cross-fertilisation of ideas from diverse disciplines and fields of practice.

The event will include invited presentations from experts in the fields of academia, industry, and government as well as presentations from the call for participation: if you would like to contribute actively to the event and you are interested in presenting,  you can submit your presentation whether for the plenary session of January 29 or for one of the parallel tracks of the same day.


The themes of the symposium include, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • Grid Computing
  • Wireless Networks for distance education
  • Content creation for Distance Learning (Health, Education, Science & Technology, Bio informatics, Agriculture, etc.)
  • Security, management and dissemination of content for distance learning
  •  Distance education infrastructure
